Science invesitgators!

In science this term, we are learning about materials and their properties.  The children conducted an experiment with a range of materials to see if they can squash it, twist it, bend it and stretch it. The children were able to identify that a lot of materials they tested were able to bend and twist, but not all materials can stretch.  After this experiment, the children were shown a material that is liquid but also solid- oobleck. They really enjoyed feeling this! We had a class discussion all about how it feels, moves and stays solid at the same time.

Musical Me!

This week, the children have learnt all about musical notes, what they mean and are currently learning how to play a tune together. They have been playing the glockenspiel, which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Welcome back!

Welcome back to year 2 after the Christmas holidays. I hope you all had a lovely break. This week, the children have been using oracy (speaking and listening with purposeful conversations) to share our learning. For this, the children have been sharing their ideas of whether money and materialistic items are more important than family- discussing their valuables in life.  In PE, the children are learning all about gymnastics. They have begun by recapping over some rolls and then we learnt about jumps and balancing. Later on this term, they will be creating their own gymnastic routine and putting it together to perform!  In DT, the children have been very excited about our topic- puppets. They began by evaluating some puppets we have in school, and this led onto a nice activity of designing their own puppet. It will be exciting to see what they create in their final product!
